EDUCATION SERVICES

Healthy Start

  • Healthy Start offers health related prenatal and parenting
    education for teen parents.
  • Family support for parenting teens (male and female) 18 and under.
    Individual, group and family counseling.
  • Prevention of domestic violence.
  • Youth services are free.

Promotora Program
A comprehensive family-focused program that provides
outreach services according to the needs of the individual
families. The Promotora Program assists with:

  • Crisis intervention and risk assessments.
  • Family self-sufficiency.
  • Preventive health promotion.
  • Community outreach; including migrant.
  • Services are free.

Programa Bienestar-Health Education Component

“Promoting lifestyle change through bilingual/bicultural health education. Enhancing the understanding of health education as
a means for all of us to improve our health status together.”

Offering FREE prevention classes and /or community
presentations on:

  • Diabetes Self-Management
  • Weight Control
  • Preventing High Blood Pressure
  • Diet & Exercise
  • Tobacco Prevention/Cessation
  • Stress Management
  • Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS)
  • Substance Abuse Prevention

  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • Art Programs for the Schools

Classes are free of charge, offered in both English and Spanish and are open to the general public. Classes are available at all LCDF sites and throughout the community. To set up an appointment, please contact your clinic and ask for information.

Dona Ana Healthy Start

“Every baby deserves a healthy start in life.”
Helps pregnant women access early, ongoing prenatal care and social/support services. Assists parenting families with babies age 0-2 stay connected to a medical home and monitor infant development.

Services include:

  • Health and Psychosocial Assessments
  • Depression Assessments
  • Family Planning
  • Prenatal/Post-Partum Health Education

EARLY HEADSTART PROGRAM

Early Head Start’s (EHS) purpose is to enhance the physical,
social, emotional and intellectual development of children between the ages of 0-3.
